The DIG has also given the reasons for the incident. A stampede broke out in Prayagraj Mahakumbh Mela due to increase in crowd before bathing on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.On a press conference Officials of Mahakumbh Mela DIG Vaibhav Krishna, justified the reasons of stampede in Mahakumbh, officials said that 30 pilgrims died on the way to Mahakumbh Stampede. And 60 people are injured and have been taken to hospital. People injured during the stampede were admitted to different hospitals of the city. Cold weather hits most parts of UP on Wednesday amid relief set to continue in Uttar Pradesh; Balrampur's night was the coldest with 6 degree minimum temperature.

Due to heavy fog in 12 districts including Lucknow, the efficiency remained between 100 meters , while in 29 districts the day temperature remained below 20 degrees.

The weather department has issued an alert of heavy rain along with strong winds in many parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. There is also a warning of lightning at some places.
